Physical Therapy for Treatment of Vulvodynia
What is vulvodynia?
Vulvodynia presents as pain, burning, numbness or altered sensation to the vulvar region. Patients will often report a burning sensation in the pelvic area, or stabbing vulvar pain. The burning or pain can be in response to touch, or can happen spontaneously.
Vulvodynia can be caused by skin conditions, hormonal changes, psychological stress, nutritional imbalances, pelvic floor muscle tightness or can be referred pain from elsewhere in the body (it can stem from irritation of the nerves in your lower back).
“My experience at Vivid Women’s Health has transformed my daily life as well as my expectations for my future. With this therapeutic experience I began to feel improvement within a short time and after a few months I feel better than I have felt in decades. ”
